    So will the x7800 or x7900 work with any santa rosa platform???

    No, i believe there was a modification made to the cpu slot in the santa rosa platform in order for extreme duos to work.

    but why wouldn't it work.?? it is santa rosa platform, merom based, the only difference is the power consumption. it uses 44W as opposed to the T line which only uses 35..

    You just stated why it won't work: it is too hot. The extremes will melt a normal santa rosa based notebook, because they are 21% hotter.

    They can only if the heat sinks are prepared to handle the heat.
