I ran the CAN I RUN THIS GAME on nzone.com for AOE III. I passed all the test for the recommended but the CPU test. They said I have 2 pentium 3 cores and the recommended is P4. And the processing speed is 1.83Ghz while the required is 2.2Ghz. So That 2.2 Ghz is P4 right?

The Pentium M structure is the Pentium 3 structure, as the P3 was alot more conservative and had lower energy usage, which resulted in lower heat, better battery life, but with the same power. The P4 architecture was more powerful but ran hot and very power hungry, that's why Intel decided to abandon the P4 architecture and went with the P3 one.

The P-M and Core Duo (and the upcomming Merom/Conroe) CPUs are all based off of Intel's P3 - that's not to say its bad or anything, because Intel has basically optimized its architecture to the max. for both energy conservation and performance (which is also why Intel's Conroe has shown promising prelim. results in the desktop arena against its AMD counterparts).

Reguarding your problem though: I'm not sure why AoE III would misread your CPU - mine runs fine (although I do have a T2500, but that shouldn't really make a difference). You definately have enough horsepower to run the game (hey, I could run it with a latpop that had a 1.7GHz P4-M with 32MB VRAM), so I'd just override the recommendations and play the game. What GPU do you have though?

Just to clarify that...the PentM and current Core Duo's are NOT P3 cores. They are based on that core...but it's significantly different. It performs many more operations than the P3 core of old, not just due to the increased clock speeds.

Yeh but it is basically a heavily modified and upgraded P3 no?

Yea, they aren't the same, but based off the architecture.

Yeup everything above is very true. The pentium 3 was bad arsed. Mhz for Mhz one of the best processors ever.
