I am looking at 2 laptops to buy. They appear to be the exact same spec apart from two differences:
Laptop 1
Intel Centrino Core Duo T2250 1.7G
1024MB DDR2 533 RAM
Laptop 2
Intel Centrino Core Duo T2400 1.83G
1024MB DDR2 677 RAM
I dont know much about intel processors or ddr2 ram but would the extras in the 2nd laptop be worth the extra £40-50?
thanks

I wouldn't say the 2nd laptop is worth the extra money. There's barely any difference between the 1.7ghz and a 1.83ghz. The main difference is that the T2250 lacks Virtualization Technology. The difference between 533mhz and 667mhz RAM is very miniscule as well.

Of course, it will not have a huge difference whatever the cpu and memory. If your budget is good enough, choose the Laptop 2 is better than all the the lower specficiation than that when the price is a little bit more(who care). In the market on computers, they are focus on Core Duo and Core 2 Duo, the DDR2 memroy with a 667MHz is the one in the market and fit to the speed of front side bus in the mainboard.

There won't be a huge difference, but the differences are multiplicative. So a slower CPU + a slower bus = a fair bit slower computer. It depends on what you do. If you just watch movies, check email and surf the web, then #1 would be fine. If you do processor intensive things such as encoding media a lot, then #2 would be a better choice. Both will still be pretty darn fast, though.
