Core Duo 2.0Ghz vs Core 2 Duo 1.73Ghz
which of the two processors do you think is better? both of them have 533FSB, 2mb cache. is there any other difference on them besides the obvious clockspeed and 32bit vs 64bit? i'm gonna be using the laptop mostly for light video and photo editing, and web surfing. is there a huge difference on the speed, or am i better of choosing the newer technology?
i've been lurking this forum ever since i discovered it about a few months ago. i finally decided to register and ask this questiong because i found these deals on circuitcity:

everything else on the laptops are the same. peace!

Not really much of a difference in most cases. video editing will be the most difference but it will be a small one. get the 1.7ghz, just cuz its newer or go for a c2d 2ghz, it will make a bigger difference

I think that the T2450 will be a faster. There is a price premium on the T5300 because it is newer technology. You can get an idea of relative performance from the Tom's Hardware notebook CPU charts. However, the T7200 is the slowest of the Core 2 CPUs, so you would need to factor its results down by 20 to 25% to allow for the slower CPU and FSB plus less cache to get an estimate of the T5300's performance while the T2450 is about 9% faster than the T2400.
