I have a dell 1705 with a 1.73 core duo. My question is can this motherboard accept a core 2 duo swap. I would like to be able to plop a core 2 in there in the future.
Thanks

Yes. Any Core series chip can accept a C2D. You'll need a screwdriver, thermal cleaner and grease, a BIOS revision, and a bit of courage. I would not recommend it, at least at this point in time as any modern processor is plenty fast enough for the average user. I don't know the full specs of your computer but I would recommend that you take that money and put in into more memory, a faster hard drive or both. If you already have done that, put it in the bank towards a new computer or a child's college education.
Cheers and welcome to the forums! -

Yes it is. I'd only recommend considering this until you KNOW you need more power or KNOW you have to have 64bit capability. Only then would I want to dive that deep into a computer to change the processor.
Most likely, when the time comes to upgrade the CPU you'll probably need to upgrade to a new notebook too. Core Duo is plenty strong for the long run.
