    i keep hearing that the core duo 2 is coming out on the 27th, but all i hear about are desktop processors... are the laptop chips coming out too or are they coming out later

    intel already started shipping them already...there was a thread on that a few days ago...

    i read that on ebay, a 2.16 Ghz merom was sold for $588

    588! wow for just a small increase? Just wait some time, Yonah is still a powerful processor and since its socket compatible(with BIOS upgrade) many will in a couple of years upgrade and it bring more life out of your notebook.

    It's the Core 2 Duo, not Core Duo 2 just to make a correction there. Both the Core 2 for the laptop and desktop are coming out the same day, and the Merom whould be available in laptops by the end of August-early Septbember, but probably no sooner.
    That's actually illegal, and the selling prices shouldn't be that high.
