Hey guys, I normally don't appear on this forum much. But will we be seeing core i3 from intel in the notebooks? I've seen i7s in notebooks but its kind of pointless lol.

No, we will get dual cores named Core i5 and Core i7:

    Core i7 620UM/640UM have 8W cpu and 10W gpu making 18W TDP.

    Core i7 620LM/640LM have a 17W cpu and 8W gpu making 25W TDP.

    Core i7 620M has a 25W cpu and 10W gpu making 35W TDP.

    Core i5 520M/540M have a 25W cpu and 10W gpu making 35W TDP.

Also, there will be lower powered Celerons and Pentiums based on Nehalem architecture.

Can someone tell me why Intel Core i3 wont be seen on notebooks?
I'm a little confused about this because I can't see any reason why they wouldn't add i3 to notebooks.

The confusion with most people regarding the new brand is they associate it like this:

Core i7-Socket 1366 with 4 cores and HT
Core i5-Socket 1156 based quad cores
Core i3-Socket 1156 based dual cores

    But in reality...

Core i7-Socket 1366 AND Socket 1156 quad cores, and also higher end dual core mobile CPUs+lower power dual core CPUs+quad core mobile CPUs

Core i5-Both dual AND quad cores can be Core i5, but the Core i5 quad core doesn't have HT. In mobile, the lower end dual cores at Core i5

Core i3-No Turbo Boost dual core and mobile Core i3's don't exist yet.

A good deal of the problem stems from Intel's failure of a marketing department. For instance, terms like "Core i7" or "Core 2 Duo" refer to so many different (and largely incomparable) CPU lines that they don't even really mean anything. Most technically-inclined people have been calling Intel CPUs by their codenames for years now because of this.

The picture would be a lot clearer if Intel had actually branded their CPUs in a logical manner, which also happens to be how most people associate it.
