What's the real-world difference? (I've seen the specs.)

For general everyday usage, no difference whatsoever unless you're using integrated graphics, in which case the latter would power games much better than the former.

About 30% higher performance and significantly longer battery life.

In other words, the 2410m is just better.
It performs faster both gpu and cpu wise and it will last longer on a single charge than the older one.

If you check just CPU core performance, 520M is faster but overall performance of Notebook with i2410 is better.

    Here is a comparison
    Compare Intel® Products

One should also consider the fact that clock for clock the 2410M is 10% faster than previous gen aka 520M. Which puts it around 300 MHz faster than what is written @ ark. Plus 2410M have quick sync which makes media applications super fast. Plus all the other stuff that is mentioned. bla bla bla :p

Passmark should not be used as a deal breaker, it'll spit out any number. Again real world use, no difference but benchmarks/rendering/compiling you will notice a difference (Sandy Bridge completely reworked last gen Turbo Boost, so new SB Turbo 2.0 is alot more potent).

32 nm everything integrated vs. CPU cores at 32nm and GPU/IMC at 45nm...the choice is clear, go with SB all the way.
