Hi,
My current laptop has Core-i7 3610QM
8GB RAM
Radeon 7550M + Intel onboard graphic
1080P
Now the above laptop had about 1hr. battery life from day 1.
I looking to get the Yoga 2 13" for power and portability.
Yoga 2 13" with:
i7-4510U
4GB RAM
Now how much performance am I going to lose going from my current config to new one as I am looking for light weight and powerful laptop without gaming features.
Thanks.

You'll lose at least half the performance when the cooling capacity design, half the RAM and less than half the cpu (the new one is meant to be throttled) is taken into consideration.
I you want true performance with light weight, the Broadwell based platforms are worth waiting for (according to everything I've read so far).
See:
PassMark - Intel Core i7-4510U @ 2.00GHz - Price performance comparison
See:
PassMark - Intel Core i7-3610QM @ 2.30GHz - Price performance comparison
Now, depending on your definition of 'performance' - it may not be as bad as the above shows (if you're simply looking for something 'snappy').
Or, it could be worse than what is indicated above (if you're doing actual, demanding work such as RAW image/video editing, etc.).
So? What is your workflow? -
Yes I am looking for something snappy. No video editing whatsoever. Mostly a lot of browsing YouTube some light image editing. Light photo shop usage.
One more thing I forgot to mention was the Yoga I am looking at is core i5 4210 1.7GHz not core i7 and I will adding a msata maybe 120gb to install the OS on and use HDD for rest. Thr current laptop only has 5400rpm HDD.
How will that affect system performance.
Thanks. -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The i5 4210 with 120GB mSATA will be fine for browsing/Youtube/Photoshop, and general computing. -
The Lenovo will be good enough.. Get the i7 model if you can afford to.. There will definetly be 30-40% performance difference and it will be worth it..
-
Thr only problem with i7 model is it doesn't come with HDD. I am planning on installing msata and cloning OS on it, maybe 250gb msata and use the 500 HDD for storage. Also it has 5 mm HDD by WD which I don't think is available to consumers. But I will google different between i7 and i5 in these later today as u recommend.

Are you interested in the laptop to have the most battery efficient, you should not use a standard HD and either buy a large mSATA. A standard hd is both slow and consumes much Power in use.

I am hoping for the best of both worlds. But we don't usually get what we want

Remember that SSD (mSATA) is the upgrade that you get the best performance for minimal money. And the longest battery time.
