you're welcome, just so you know, all the odd 7 numbers, are santa rosa e.g. 7100 or 7300 (so far)
-
Perhaps a clarification is in order.
The 7100 is not a Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is a platform, consisting of a CPU, a chipset, and a wifi adapter. The 7100 is one of the CPUs available in the Santa Rosa platform. That it being said, it can also be used in previous generation platform (sometimes down-clocked) or in current generation platforms that are not fully Santa Rosa compliant (eg. different wifi adapter). -
RogueMonk, Does the Santa Rosa restrict your GPU? It says it requires GMA X3100 graphics technology or am I mixing things up?
-
Technically speaking, Santa Rosa uses the Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset, which includes the X3100 on board. That being said, I believe the Centrino Duo/Pro branding allows for a discrete GPU, but I may be mistaken.
-
There are a few main features of Santa Rosa. One of them is the new x3100 GMA, there's also Robson, and Wireless N.
-
Santa Rosa is a platform, that specifies a wifi card, chipset and optionally Turbo Memory. The CPU cannot strictly be classified as 'Santa Rosa' or not. The T7100 does support 800MHz FSB, which is one of the features of the Santa Rosa platform.
-
Yes that CPU is a component of the Santa Rosa platform.
Hows that?? -
I can't help but notice you Canadians are out in force tonight at least on this thread. Is it a national holiday there tomorrow? Is there a name for the new 800Mhz FSB that is not Santa Rosa?
