Awesomly awesome new SSD by Corsair, or am I mistaken?
Force Series 3 - Solid-State Drives
Specs are better than Vertex 3 IOPS (although it hasn't been released yet to be confirmed in benchmark).
Read/Write is more than 500 MB/s, 85000 IOPS.
I'm in need to get a new SSD for my high end laptop, and I'm also in a hurry to get it. Is it a bad idea to get this new SSD, which is available in stores June 1st?

In my research, Corsair SSD's can be flakey.
If you can (possibly) put up with hiccups, reinstalls, etc. until the bugs are worked out then give it a try.
If you need to get any work done (on time) and simply enjoy what an SSD offers - then this could be the worst idea you've had (or not, YMMV, etc.). -
Better than IOPS? It is the exact same specifications except 20MB more in Sequential write

OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS SATA III 2.5" SSD - OCZ -
There is not much OCZ or Corsair can do. After all, they are using the same controller from SandForce. Whatever SandForce implemented is pretty much their limits.

I should be getting one today.

They promised today but's going to be tomorrow.
I will post some benchmarks early on.
Update: performance looks bad though. I'm considering canceling it.

ouch those are the same numbers I get on my f120

First review is in and the price-performance ratio is very good. The only question that remains: Is it more reliable than competing OCZ products? Time will tell...

Before you buy any Sandforce drive I'd recommend to check the Newegg reviews. See how many failures there are. I doubt you will still buy one.

Crucial M4 only knows one problem: a Windows 'feature' called LPM can causes it to stutter. To solve this issue all one has to do is double click on a .reg file.
If you want something that works hassle free out of the box: Samsung 470 or Intel 320.
Samsung 470 has a very low failure rate. -
I was excited about this driver potentially being the best bang for the buck, but I dont think I can abandon my M4. The drive is solid, fast, and I dont think I would see a lot of real world difference going from this drive to the corsair.

I would get the intel 320, I was looking for a intel x 25m 160gb when I bought this one, however, it was 100 bucks more expensive, so... I got this terribad thing -
I am down to either this drive (the 240gb version) or the Intel 510 in the same capacity... I'm waiting for my new HP 8560w to come in and I want to have the SSD's here for "opening day". I plan to put them in a RAID 0. My conservative side wants to go with the Intel because of the 34mm chips and thinks the speed of the drive won't be an issue with the RAID 0, but I'm not that happy about the non-intel controller in an Intel drive... if only there were a perfect drive out there, but there just doesn't seem to be.
My Corsair P256 has been running SUPERBLY for 3 years now, so my desire to stick with them is high as well. I'm certain the amount of time I've spent researching all of this completely negates the speed I'll get! -
I am in the same situation hendryjl is. Considering this drive (120GB) vs Intel 510 (120GB). The difference in price is some 40 Euro, but I can pay more.
AFAIR Intel 510s are solid stable, but their performance varies, especially at the 4k level. This Corsair, on the other hand, is sad to be very fast, and the brand name has always stood for the quality. Yet there is the reliability issue with SandForce.
Hmmm... Has anybody been on Intel 510 and switched to F3, or the opposite? I'd like to hear first-hand comments.
Edit: most SandForce reviews/comments are kinda scary. I think I'll go for 510. Better perform a bit worse but way reliable, I'd say. -

How can a part that keeps working be called 'performs worse'?
Forget the benchmarks, the Intel SSD's are in a different ballgame.
SandForce drives are like the clunky English cars of the 60's/70's/80's that needed a mechanic on each drive/ride.
Except the difference is that you could actually fix one of those cars to get you home again.
There is a reason they are cheaper - it's because they are. -
This is a good point about the price difference, tilleroftheearth. In the end they didn't take the price tag out of a magic hat... unless they managed to significantly lower their production costs maintaining production/material quality, but this doesn't seem plausible.

Just a note:
Corsair Force 3 SSD Issues? READ ME FIRST PLEASE - The Corsair Support Forums
Things aren't looking good for these drives. They just issued a recall. -
BTW, after reading this I stand corrected re Intel 510's performance. It turns out to be an excellently balanced drive + Intel's reliability = it's surely one of the best SSDs out there.
