I want to buy a 2GB memory stick for my T61p and my choice is between a Corsair VS2GSDS667D2 or a Kingston KTL-TP667/2G.

The Kingston costs about AUD$40 more than the Corsair.

Why is there such a price difference, and does anyone have any feedback on quality?

    Thanks

Like the other poster said, the Kingston is just marked up more to make more money. If the Corsair has the same specs go for that. Corsair makes very good RAM, they are a very reliable company. I have an old 512MB stick from them in my desktop(3 yrs old), with no problems at all. Their name is usually mentioned in the same sentence as Crucial, Kingston, OCZ etc....

I'll add another vote for the Corsair. They offer high quality products, and their Value Select (VS) series is priced well.

I've had 2 sticks of their VS ram in my desktop for over 4 years with no problems.

I've used Corsair in my laptops for years. Great stuff. Ironically Kingston used to be considered (used to? maybe still I dunno) cheapo ram that was of questionable quality. Now it's way expensive and hyped up, hah.

go for the corsair, its good stuff.
Corsair puts a lifetime warranty on their products, so you are covered in case a memory cell becomes corrupt.
All memory is made by one of the five large memory producers, like samsung, qmonda, hynix, micron and elpida.
Corsair and kingston are just rebranded memory cards. Corsair mainly uses qimonda or micron memory, and kinston usually uses SEC or micron.
All the memory is good, the main thing to just look for is that lifetime warranty, cause you never know when a memory card is going to go bad.

Don't forget to run Memtest prior to purchase (if store bought)

Actually, Kingston used to be one of the most expensive at the beginning, only recent years they dropped their price because too many competitors. I always trusted Kingston's quality though. ed_h, you can't really go wrong with either one.
