    because i'm getting lag in games when my HDD light ticks on and it would help to off load the OS but, i'd rather not do so by shoving a drive in the DVD port via IDE.

    So does any one know if it can boot from express card?

    I really doubt your lag is coming from your hdd, my desktop runs all my games off the hdd and it has no problems with the hdd bottlenecking my i7 and 560ti so i doubt your HDD will be slowing down your core 2 duo and 4670, what games are you experiencing lag in, your core 2 duo is getting a bit old now especially considering its only 1.5 ghz, have you considered upgrading that as core 2 duos are so cheap or even doing a full system upgrade. SSDs are also getting much cheaper now so why not get a high capactiy ssd and put your hdd in an external caddy and just dont have as many games etc intalled at once.

    I agree with wildman, its very doubtfull your lag is comming from your hdd, your cpu is extremely weak (I though mine was the weakest in the forum until I was shocked by how weak yours is xD, mine is always running at 100% in modern games, so yours should definitly be a bottleneck aswell).

    You sure have not, I am bound to use a Intel Pentium M 1.4 GHz till I get my new P150EM. At least it can run Baldurs Gate.

    I can agree, the HDD ist rarely a bottleneck. I suggest you download Sysinternals Process Explorer from the Microsoft homepage and use it to take a look at your real bottleneck. I had an 5920G with T9300 and an GT 8600M. It could run most non demanding games, things like League of Legends, without problems.

    OP are you sure of the amont of RAM installed in your laptop?

    The chipset on your laptop is the Intel PM965 and unless I'm wrong it supports only a maximum of 4GB RAM.

    So are you sure you have enough RAM?

    Also consider de-fragmenting your hard drive using a utility like defraggler.

    I'm very sure it is 5gb of ram. i went out of my way to research 4gb ddr2 modules with the PM965. I had the extra money i may go as high as 8gb ram

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...um-ram-size-supported-acer-aspire-5920g.html#

    I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought it might be my CPU. It lags in several games when the HDD light ticks on.

    If i can some money soon i'll drop in an X9000 or if i have to X9100 but, obviously PM965 only runs at 800 bus so i'd have to the CPU socket mod for the x9100.

    My GPU isn't too shabby so if we are right about the CPU, this thing should fly with a real CPU, assuming i can get one any time soon.

    I still wonder about an SSD though bu, i'd have to put one drive in the DVD bay which is ide, what ever drive goes in will max at 88mbs with a good quality dvd PATA < SATA bay adapter. Still as it sits my programs and OS share the same drive (WD10JPVT) @ about 113mbs read/write { http://www.storagereview.com/western_digital_scorpio_blue_1tb_review_wd10jpvt }

    So 88mbs might be better for just OS/programs. it seems like the most obvious would be for the HDD to go in the DVD bay. what might be really cool is an express card SSD with storage drive in the DVD bay about 500gb for movies and music, my music alone takes 150gb.

    EDIT: to be more descriptive when it lags during those small and occasional HDD light "ticks" i don't get massive lag, it just lags fora few frames usually not any longer time wise than the light stays, half a second to a second.

    I don't think you'll find any boot options for ExpressCard media in the BIOS. However, you can probably install a bootloader to your hard drive that then points to the OS on the SSD. Assuming it works without any drivers.
