Hello
I have a toshiba satellite A10 with Celeron 2ghz socket 478, not celeron M, I want to change my processor to Pentium 3ghz socket 478. Can I do it?
Thanks

If the socket is the same then you can change the processor and install a Pentium 4. But to many things go against that idea, like the fact that your notebook may not be able to cople with the extra heat from such a hot processor. Secondly, installing it may not be liked by your motherboard, as it may not support a P4, in the BIOS. Also, if your notebook is under warranty, then it will almost certainly void it.

Do you remember if your notebook was offered with a Pentium 4? If it was, then there should be no problems upgrading.

Remember too that your power requirements may shoot up and you'll lose some of the portability due to shorter battery life.

Upgrade to a beef-ier power supply. Your P4 will suck up a lot of juice.

If you're considering installing that P4 in a notebook, don't ever set it down on your lap unless you want to be infertile
