I recently bought a notebook from work. They gave it to me for 5 payments so I went ahead and took it because I needed a computer badly. I left my desktop at home.

    Specifications:
    Toshiba Satellite A100
Intel Centrino Duo T2250 1.73 ghz
    1.5gb DDR2 667Mhz
    Intel 945GM Express Chipset

Its pretty good but I was just wondering If i could upgrade my mobile processor in the future. I was thinking of upgrading to Intel Centrino Duo 2..err the one with Intel COre 2...maybe atelast 2.0ghz or the first one available with 4mb of L2 Cache.

I have seen other notebooks with the same chipset(945gm express) that has intel core 2 duo. But i just wanna make sure i can...and where to buy these mobile processors.

Thanks..Hope to hear from someone soon.

    Cheers

You can upgrade to a Core 2 Duo(The Merom chipset), as long as there is a BIOs for it.

You notebook can support Core 2 Duo proessors, but its likely that you will need a BIOS update. For most people, the speed difference just won't be noticeable, except for processor dependant tasks, such as encoding or video editing. Mobile processors are also expensive to buy, so it may not be the best way to go. Upgrading the hard disk and RAM are recommended, and then other components.

oh okay...thanks for all your replies...

I was just wondering...thats why i asked..I dont have anything more that i want to upgrade...i cant upgrade my graphics display..

in my opinion i have enough RAM and its 667mhz so thats cool already i guess...and my HDD is 160gb hmm....

Any of you gamers? Do games really need the vertex shader..I tried going to systemrequirementlabs.com and ran tests for some games...I seem to not meet the recommended because of that VERTEX shader...

    I use 945gmexpress with 950 graphics accelerator..

I tried the games despite the results..and they worked okay...some even at high settings...
