I have a dv2000 (2416us) laptop that's making a loud buzzing & the vent in the back is blowing out hot air.
I did clean the fan awhile back by removing the mobo & while in there I installed a copper shim over the gpu chip.
I also thought maybe I had messed with the bios using a "myDriversPLus.com" boot disk after attempting to do a recovery from the OEM dv2416us recovery disk (which failed) from the same company for the hdd going down & I installed a new hdd.
I searched endlessly for some support for the drivers disk in pdf form to find out how to use the disk.
It does take some experience on how to use the disk once it boots up.
Any support would be appreciated!
Thank's!
David

What temps do you see at idle and more importantly under load? I suggest installing hwinfo32 HWiNFO32 Download . Also was your machine part of this http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-pavilion-notebooks/233974-dv2000-dv6000-dv9000-recall.html ?

Its either a bios accidently reset from using the driver disk, or the fan itself.
I will find out if its the fan once I get it in from shipping in a day or so.
I have a laser temp gun & wished i'd used it while the laptop was together.
Now its in a million pieces.
Its definatley coming from the fan alone & not the hdd.
Thank's for your reply!

Post back once I get it back together.
Then I have to try reinstalling the recovery disk properly.
