    I bought the Black Friday L25-S1192 from Best Buy last year, and I've been yearning for a little bit better performance. Does anyone know what the highest CPU I can put in there is? It currently has a Celeron M 1.5ghz dothan based. I know i can get the highest Pentium M 780, but can it take a Yonah core?

    Xpress 200M chipset.

    Ah, so you were one of the lucky ones who got the laptop.

    I don't know if you can get a Yonah in there or not, but you may want to look into doing a pin mod if you are familiar with upgrading and building computers.

    I wouldn't recommend upgrading such a cheap laptop to Yonah simply because the processor will cost the same or more than what it cost to buy the laptop. Of course, you could get some of the cost back by selling the old processor on Ebay.

    Also keep in mind that the battery with the laptop probably only has 4 cells. Putting a Yonah CPU in there would decrease your battery life.

    Yes, do the pin mod and be happy with the boost. You cannot put a core duo (yonah) on your motherboard because it uses a different motherboard.

    Celeron M actually has pretty crappy battery life due to not having some of the power saving features of the Pentium M and later. Some Celeron Ms are 479 and pin-compatible with Yonah, but I think most aren't, so yours likely isn't/

    You can upgrade to a Pentium M (Dothan), either 400Mhz or 533Mhz. I've done it, well worth it!

    The hard drive is also a very good upgrade if you are looking for a performance boost.

    A Pentium-M (Dothan) will fit, i.e. a 7** series. I plan to use a 400MHz fsb version in mine (7*5) because my current cpu is 400MHz fsb and these cpus tend to go a bit cheaper.

    Watch out for Banias Pentium-Ms. These won't work! They don't have a model number and only have 1MB of Level 2 cache.

    I have tried the pin mod and gotten to 2.0ghz on it. It had a problem with it glitching every 10 seconds or so and missing keystrokes so I removed the pinmod. It works great without it. I would rather just get the fastest cpu in there that I can for a decent price. Battery life is not an issue, I mainly use it plugged in and I plan on getting a gig of ram for it cheap. Price is not a huge issue, just mainly what the highest speed cpu I can put in there is.
