    I just got a Latitude D820.
    core2 duo T2700
    2 gigs RAM
    512 Nvidia Quadro NVS 120
    100 Gig 7200rpm

I know the GPU isn't optimized for 3D but my performance sucks ass! In 3Dmark05 i got 1424, and I didn't even complete 06 because I was getting 0 to 1 fps.

Some video clips also look bad, and when I move windows around, I haven't been able to find a driver to fix it

    any opinions?

You've answered your own question :

You graphics card is not optimized for running games or tests like 3dmark
its professional GPU for CAD or 3dmax sort of thing id sugest running some cpu benches.

Quadro is a business graphics card specifically made for AutoCAD rendering. You won't be able to play many games with that.

Right, I just thought I may be able to play some games on lower quality settings. I'm not going to be gaming much but I wanted the ability to that if I desired. Will it be able to handle molecular modeling programs?

Is it possible to change the GPU for the D820? I'm thinking that would be difficult.

Download newer drivers and the modified INF file from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/. The problem with modified desktop drivers is when you close the lid the screen doesn't turn off when Windows is set to 'Do nothing'. Performance should improve a bit, but I don't really see anything wrong with your 3DMark05 score. The NVS 120m is basically a go7400, and laptops with the go7400 typically score between 1800-2000 stock.

3DMark06 should be a slideshow on low end cards, there's nothing wrong with that.

Don't worry about what 3DMarks say... Its very demanding and shows very low FPS with a lot of Graphics. In real games its a lot higher than your few FPS. You should be ok playing current games at low/minimum settings and older games at medium settings.

    Just to make something clear

Nvidia Quadro NVS 120 is business card optimazed for 2d applications (business, financial, corporate) no 3D here

there is different series Quadro Fx optimazed for 3d like AutoCad,3dmax and so on..

However, NVS 120M is close to Go 7400 as a benchmark performance (probably gaming too)

The 3DMarks result for NVS 120 are:

    3DMark 06 - 670
    3DMark 05 - 1700

which is probably enough to play games at comfortable settings

if your performance is crappy so probably you have some problems with drivers

If you havent yet, check out my thread in this forum (over genuine 20,000 hits already):

Windows XP Multi Core config and Benchmarks

This should help your to optimize your dual core system. This guide also recommends a number of benchmarks to compared before and after scores... PCMark05, SuperPI and 3DMark06 should be the ones to really see the score differences.

3Dmark06 is probably the only one of the current benchmarks that have multithread support. So the "CPU Score" will definitely have an increase after the hotfix gets done. The 3Dmark score will also increase, but nominally.

...I was getting very concerned when I saw 3DMark06 as a slide show, so it's good to know that's normal for my GPU.

So, I used Gophn's dual core optimization technique. And I have installed a modified driver, 82.45, from laptopvideo2go.com. I notice a truly significant difference when opening things, much faster; like the snap of a finger. My old SuperPi(calculating 2M) was 116, the new was 103; That's over an 11% difference. Old 3Dmark05=1424, New=1936. I am very pleased.
...the only thing is that when I move windows around now it "waves", but I can live with it...obviously due to the driver

    Later!
