Hey Guys,
I didn't know where to post this Q, so excuse me for posting in the wrong section of the forum.![]()
I just bought a PAV HP 6599, it has a Windows Vista Home as its operating system & 160 GB HD space. The thing is I want to creat a partition but don't know how, can someone please guide me? Is it possible? If possible, do you recommend I do it?
I'm a noob when it comes to notebooks!![]()
Hope someone can guide me through the process!
Thanks All!

You probably don't have any unpartitioned space on your drive to create another parition, so your only option would be to shrink the System Partition to create room. Then you would just create a new partition in the free space. Here is a good tutorial on using the Shrink Tool in vista:

Just be careful, if anything goes wrong during the shrinking process, then you could lose the data on your hard disk. -
Well, I just got my notebook.
The basics are the things installed on the 160GB HD (i.e. operating system etc...).
All i want to do is divide the space, meaning c:= 70 GB & new drive = the rest of the space. Is that what the guide will help me achieve?
thanks -
I had the option of creating a partition when i isntall win xp pro on my laptop.
Do a fresh install if you have win xp cd you will get a option of making as many partition as you want. I never tired doing a partition while having a os installed on HD before so i can't help you there. I don't know about vista tho never used it before. -
The guide should help you do that. The first step would be to shrink the system (c
partition down to the 70Gb. Just follow that guide. Then create an additional partition in the left over (unallocated) space. I believe all you have to do is right click in that bottom area to get to that option.
