I have managed to remove the lcd display successfully. However, when i connect the laptop to the tv via hdmi, the tv wont recognize the laptop. What it might went wrong. I can hear the laptop fans, even the touch buttons are working. The laptop is an old Toshiba Satellite A300!

Could be a couple of things.

First, have you tried pressing the function key on your keyboard for sending a signal to an external display? Look at the Function keys on the top row of your keyboard, there should be one key with a little diagram of a display. Of course you will also need to press the FN button as well as this key for it to work.

Second, it could be that your laptop will not boot without a display connected to it. I know from experience with my Alienware M15X, that it will not boot without the native display connected to it.

In your laptop's BIOS, there may be an option to init HDMI display first. I suggest reattaching internal display and checking everything.

Kosti is probably right. Laptop probably won't boot without display attached.

It can boot, but not with hdmi or dvi. With VGA it will boot.

Personal experience, across 5-6 notebooks in my past... All of them boots up fine, with VGA or even DVI, but none with HDMI. Also the graphics driver won't install without the original screen. Thats a bad thing I think.
