I have a Vista and I want to use BitLocker, but it says I need to create another partition. Is their anyway, I can do this without reformatting my drive or buying an expensive software.
I would like to create 2GB partition to secure files.

    Thanks

Don't think that would work, the OP needs to resize a current partition as I'm sure there are no available space to create a new partition.

To OP, you definately need a 3rd party software like Acronis Disk Director Suite or Paragon Partition Manager to resize a current partition and then use the available space to create another new volume for BitLocker. I'm not sure if there are free or shareware utilities out there that would allow this.

thanks I did so more digging my self and found out that BitLocker can only be installed from a clean install. :( oh well. I probably reformat this summer, 64 bit is not working that well for me and I only have 4gb so its not worth it to me.

    Have you tried diskpart?
open a runcommand prompt, type diskpart ,click run.
when the dos prompt comes up, type list volume.
from the list choose the appropriate drive and then type select volume 'x' x being the number of appropriate drive.
type add device\harddisk(x same as above, no parenthesis)\(y)MB y here being the size of the partition you would create
    so and example would be
    add device\harddisk1\15000mb
try this out let me know if it works. dont know why it wouldnt.
