Creative X-Fi Notebook - feeds audio into laptop's speakers or for headphones/external speakers only?

I've got the card installed in my Dell XPS Studio 13 and the sound properties show sound being fed into it, but there's no output. When I select "Speakers, Creative X-Fi" from the sound properties, I still get no sound from the laptop's speakers. Is there a way to rectify that?

Funny thing is that both sets of speakers (laptop's and what the sound card thinks is plugged into them) show up in the sound properties. And I can hear notifications from Windows and Skype fine, just not music.

Running Windows 7, by the way.
