    I am assuming the Zen Vision M HD is upgradeable. Has anyone been able to successfully upgrade? I would love to see if I could get my 30GB up to 120GB.

    I know this isn't specifically talking about a notebook, but the hardware is essentially the same. It can be moved to another section if needed.

    The 60GB is also a 1.8inch HDD.

    here is the thread where your specific question might be answered;

    There are more to it then just swithching the drive according to the first few messages, sorry this thread goes on for 4 pages and I don't have a Creative branded MP3 player.

    Yeah, and I saw people were stating that there isn't enough room for a 1.8" HD that has two platters? Now I am not exactly sure what a platter is, but I assume it's the physical disk that stores the data. And having two would mean one is thicker than the other.

    Thanks Frenchnew, that site provided a lot of information, but sadly it looks like there are a lot of theories and not much actual hard evidence of a HD upgrade.

    The primary reason there is no "hard evidence" of an upgrade is, it won't work with the drives now available. The ZVM 60 is thicker than the ZVM 30 because the HD is thicker. So, you'd have to have all sorts of cobbled together connections and case to make it work. If the ZVM 60 won't do, you'll probably be out of luck for another year or two. Maybe by then there will be a 120 Gig player

    Creative just released a slimmed down version of the Zen Vision M 60gb model, I'm guessing because of new HD technology. Even a year, is a pretty short wait. I think I can manage. Dell is offering them at a very nice price right now.

    How much are they offering them for? And where can one get the slimmed down versions?

    Currently, they have only been released in Japan. I believe that they should start hitting the US by Christmas.

    Why would you need that much space? Try going with an archos if you need that much for movies, etc.

    you can fit a 60gb hard drive into a 30gb case, inside the 30gb case there is a small cusion/"space-taker-upper/protection that can be taken out and it gives JUST barely enough room for a 60gb hard drive i beleive.

    I got a 80GB archos 504 myself. really cool, excellent screen quality but to play some videos you haveta purchase the codecs and they only have them on special offer in the US. funny really considering archos is a french company, yet they only give special offers to US customers and charge every1 else including france nearly 2x the price for stuff!

    my first choice was the 60GB Zen but the archos just offered more bang for buck

    There have been many people who tried to do the same but huge problems ensued. It is physically possible, but the software issues are beyond reasonable.
