Greetings all, hope you're having good times.

I got a critical issue, I got a Sager Clevo Laptop, that model, NP8678-S, it had a Samsung 850 Evo M2 Drive and later I decided to go a big bigger in terms of speed and size, chose to use RAID 0 Samsung SSDs, NVMe, I asked their technical support for which model to use, they told me to use Samsung 950 Pro and thing should be ok.

I had the chance to get two 961 models, Same interface, and I tried to install both but things went so wrong!! check these photos.

See up there in the PCI connection part?

Now installing both in my laptop and only configuration I could find out is this one, and it not even working.

The lower one only booted by itself and the upper left side one can be installed Only that way, 961 and 950 Pro share same identical PCI layout and the product website promoted that both can work fine - Two 950s in RAID - what to do now? :(

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

I've never seen an M.2 slot require you to install the drive upside-down before. Are you sure it won't go in right side up?

Well, if that's how it's keyed, then I guess either it's a B-keyed slot or it's meant to be installed upside-down. The 950 and 961 should be pin-compatible AFAIK, and I see that resellers selling the P670RG are offering dual 950s so I don't see why it wouldn't have two M-keyed slots. I don't own this particular model, so I would ask your reseller if the M.2 slot is an upside-down M-keyed slot or if there was a manufacturing error somewhere.

I tried that, I thought it was up side down and when I tried to boot that way, whole laptop is not working and power LED is blinking, it's saying an error I am sure.

I tired both drives - 961s - each alone were perfectly working, I contacted Sager but no one is answering me so far for over four days :(

But in general If 950s are ok with this model, 961s should be, right?

Well, you yourself said that each 961 was working, so that answers your question about that. I would ask in the appropriate owner's lounge in the Clevo subforums if one of the M.2 slots is supposed to be mounted upside-down, but I'd guess that's a manufacturing issue.

Yes. But as I said, this is just speculation. Go post on the Clevo subforum to find out what the M.2 slots are supposed to look like.

I bought it from Amazon and Amazon I guess dealt with the seller - Sager - in this case, I checked the Manuel and they sent me on mail the PDF for it, even attached a photo as shown here.

As you can see the 2nd SSD is not flipped over cause it got a shape like this _|____|_ so it's fitting, but the 961s doesn't, I would really appreciate if anyone of the gentlemen you tagged can come to me for some help, I sent them already a customer ticket on Sager and waiting in vain for response..

BTW I googled the internet for the motherboard of that model, nothing, I have no idea is it a defect or normal socket now for the 2nd one, but it makes no sense at all to me to flip it all over... maybe?

Hello Everyone, this is an update about the issue, hope you find it helpful..

I had an earlier ticket with Sager Support team asking them about RAIDing TWO Samsung 951s, they didn't say anything about compatibility, but they told me how to install both, 1 2 3, you're good to go, I updated that ticket waiting for response, in vain.
I created a new ticket, and asked the same question this time, I had the same answer for both tickets "Your model doesn't support RAID for NVMe devices, only one drive", I asked them later what to do now!!! no one came back to me.

Rubbish customer service, I didn't expect it to be so low, no ownership or anything, I can attach both emails as a matter of integrity from my side....

I guess I will have to resell both NVMes now, buy one 512GBs or even accept a lower 850 Evo 1TB I don't know so far, but for me a NO Sager in the near future, not me not my friend not anyone...

Thank you all for that spirit in the forums and being helpful, wish you all a very good day.
