Crucial.com Product Downloads - Firmware Updates

Firmware for the Crucial m4 2.5” SSD is being updated from version 010G to 040H.

Crucial Adrenaline Solid State Cache (M4 SSD)Firmware Update 040H

The m4 is updatable to this new firmware starting from any previous version in a single step.

Do NOT use any other m4 firmware update for your 2.5” SSD such as the 04MH firmware for the mSATA form factor.

Version 040H includes the following changes:

Improved robustness in the event of an unexpected power loss. Significantly reduces the incidence of long reboot times after an unexpected power loss.
Corrected minor status reporting error during SMART Drive Self Test execution (does not affect SMART attribute data).
Streamlined firmware update command for smoother operation in Windows 8.
Improved wear leveling algorithms to improve data throughput when foreground wear leveling is required.

Additional details can be found in the firmware guide

The new update works well on my M4. No issues yet. Hoping it stays the same. Not much difference in AS SSD results (except for the 4K writes that increased from 22 to 38). Direct upgrade from 000F to the latest. Updated using the Windows .exe updater. Worked like a charm.

Does this one work with UEFI now?

    Just to follow up:

I updated the firmware by burning a DVD (yeah: waste - but at least I have to use it a few times before I need to throw it out). Trying the Windows update simply stated that no eligible SSD's were found on the system (an HP DV7).

Noticed immediately that it was snappier - but then I proceeded to update the IRST driver to 11.7 and also change the RAM to PC3-12800 from PC3-10700. :)

Each step was an improvement in how responsive the O/S, LR4.2 and PS CS6 felt with each change.

Worth to upgrade to this version (but I don't know what the issue was/is with UEFI?).

Wait upgrading will erase all of my data?

Actually never upgraded firmware on a SSD before to be honest. Always left it as it was (no troubles that way)

Improved robustness in the event of an unexpected power loss.

Hmmm interesting......i had to warranty claim a 3 week old 512GB M4 cos it shat itself & i'm pretty sure it was something power related....had 010 firmware on it
