Crucial C300 RealSSD Series 256GB SSD 2.5" SATA II / III Solid State Drive
    (Manufacturer Model# CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1)

Is there any unbiased review from users here about this SSD? I really appreciate if you guys that have this, share their story.
I am new to SSD, and for the price and storage capacity, this one seems reasonable. Also I'm gonna use this on MacBook Pro.
But I've read a couple of review that said it failed after 6 weeks, although they get a refurbished replacement.
So is this drive worth the money? And isn't SSD expensive because of speed and reliability?

No, SSD's are expensive because of marketing hype.

I haven't tried this drive (and probably never will) - but have read many instances where reliability is not where it should be.

The price and capacity does not make an SSD reasonable or not (by themselves).

I would be looking into Intel and/or Samsung for reliable SSD hardware.

    Good luck.

I mean from the price point of view, and the capacity that I will get, this is reasonable for me to get it.
However as I mentioned, I don't know is this SSD good or not.
Thanks for your response though. Might as well spend more than getting 6 weeks hard drive.

My 256GB C300 performs well, and has had no issues. Before the latest firmware (006), performance seemed to be affected by considerable multi-tasking (an example would be: 50+ tabs in FireFox, multiple HD videos open circuit simulation programs, and video editing software open at once), but that's no longer the case.

However, I wouldn't buy a C300 right now, I'd wait for the Crucal C400/M4, which will supposedly be cheaper.

Wow that's great info. And you're right, I search around and the C400 is going to be out in Q1, price at $425 for 256GB. Pretty good price for a new and improved product.
And after hearing your experience, I think overall it is a great product (and manufacturer).

I have 4 C300's and i've never once had any problems with them. They are great drives. I have two 128gb's in my Vaio Z and two 128gb's in my desktop along with an X25-m 160gb G2.

I also have the 256 GB C300 and I love it. I've had the Samsung 470 series SSD, Corsair p128 SSD, and a OCZ Vertex SSD in the past, and in my opinion the best SSD that you can buy Today (not one month from now) would be either the C300, Intel g2, or Samsung. If you are all for benches and fast 4k times, then go with the C300 or Intel. If you are going to be doing a lot of large writes to the drive, than the Samsung 470 is a great SSD. Overall, I wouldn't trade my C300 for a Samsung 470 due to the excellent experience I've had so far. No issues what so ever. Hopefully that helps :)

Do you guys have any freezing issue? I have C300 256GB too, and after a couple of days of use, windows 7 has begun to freeze randomly during 30-60 sec. 2-3 times per day.
Someone has the same problem? I have a HP envy 14 and I don't even have an option which allows me to change sata to ahci in BIOS. Any idea please?

Post a screenshot of the AS SSD program open. You don't need to run the benchmark, I just want to see the info in the top left corner.

Also, anyone who has a C300 - Do not try to flash firmware 0006 to 0002. You will brick your drive.

At least your Envy seems to already be running in AHCI mode. My drive has a similar score, though my 4K-64Thrd is ~180MB/s.

Something that you could try do for the stuttering is:
    Re: C300 Disk Freeze-ups in Windows 7 - Page 28 - Crucial Community

Can't say that I've personally tried that as I haven't experienced any freezing/stuttering(also running firmware 0006).

I bought my C300 mid-February this year (not even a month yet :p). Wear level for my drive is 1% (my Indilinx Barefoot based drive was dropping a percent every few days with the same amount of heavy usage) according to CrystalDiskInfo 4 Dev5.

your C300 benchmarks are about 75% of mine. My 4k's are 20.5/29.50 when benchmarked on my Vaio Z

If you can possibly hold out a bit longer, the newer Crucial C400 or M4 as it is also known, will be on the shelves. I know that I am looking at the C300 but for the sake of a week or so, Im gonna hold off....

That probably doesnt help out much though if you need it like "yesterday"....

I literally have no money left after getting this laptop so i'm going to get this. It looks good enough. i doubt i can afford the C400 and i barely can afford the 128GB version.
