    Hi,

anyone had issues with these drives? I got the 256GB version. Currently on my second drive and today it died as the other did after a months use. I had to do a manual reset as windows crashed.

When I turned laptop back on drive wouldnt detect. My laptop is a R3 and the other none ssd drive works fine.

I have a 256GB C300 in my MBP and its working fine for now. I've seen these issues and don't like to think I could have a problem in the future.

    Cheers,

No problems after 10 months with mine. What [FW] is on your drive? What kind of controller?

It would be very rare to have two C300s die. Maybe there is some issue in combination with your laptop.

We've been supporting the C300 since launch as an IT provider. I have almost no faith in these boat anchors at this time. I'd imagine we initially placed 25 or so in service, and I'd bet we've lost 30% of them within 1 year of service. We've moved to other products at this point as we simply cannot recommend them any longer.

Sure they are fast, but I'll give up a heap of speed for reliability. The reason I post today is because I just had my personal laptop die. I was under the (false) impression that FW006 would resolve many of the problems associated with the drives. I've been cautiously optimistic as I've run for 10 months without issue. That ended this morning. Similar symptoms to the initial post. I powered up the system from sleep, but the login prompt never appeared, only the background. I put it to sleep and awoke the system several times with the same results. I finally powered off the system as I could not get logged in. Now the drive is not recognized in the bios - tried on multiple systems.

If there is any real evidence that these drives will actually function as reliably as a standard spindle drive, I'm all ears, but at this point, it's too much trouble to continue being beta testers for such a poorly engineered product. Before someone says FW007 is the end-all be-all fix for these drives, look through the firmware release notes and you'll see similar wording for just about every release about improving reliability. Grr... I did not want to be rebuilding this morning...

Going on almost 12 months, and I recently upgraded to FW0007 about 8 days ago. Not a single problem, and would even recommend this drive to my mom!

Phil, wasn't there a thread you started in this SSD forum counting complaints somewhere to come up with a "guesstimate" about the reliability of the C300?
