Release Date: 12/04/2012
Firmware for the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD is being updated from version 01MH to 04MH.
Crucial.com Product Downloads - Firmware Updates
The m4 is updatable to this new firmware starting from any previous version in a single step.
Do NOT use any other m4 firmware update for your m4 mSATA SSD such as the 040H firmware for the 2.5 form factor.
Version 04MH includes the following changes:
Improved robustness in the event of an unexpected power loss. Significantly reduces the incidence of long reboot times after an unexpected power loss.
Corrected minor status reporting error during SMART Drive Self Test execution (does not affect SMART attribute data).
Streamlined firmware update command for smoother operation in Windows 8.
Improved wear leveling algorithms to improve data throughput when foreground wear leveling is required.
Additional details can be found in the firmware guide

Great, thanks for both the msata and sata updates. I have both, and will give them a try soon.

Bleh The stupid installer didnt run properly after the restart. It said something was missing,
The second time i did it it gave me an MBR error. I think it has something to do with my dual boot. -
Nope. I also got an MBR error, with a single Windows 8 OS.

If you have a newer model that shipped with Windows 8 preinstall or you update to a UEFI bios this firmware probably won't work.
WARNING: The firmware update process is done entirely at your own risk. Before initiating the update process be sure to backup or make copies of all important files. If the firmware process is interrupted your solid-state drive may not function properly.
UEFI-based Systems: During validation of this firmware update we noticed instances where our update tools do not recognize the SSD with some systems using UEFI. The target device is not recognized as an updateable device during the reboot process. If this happens, the firmware update will not occur, and you’ll retain the firmware version you started with. Windows will then restart normally. If this sequence occurs, you cannot upgrade to this firmware version at this time, but you’ve done no harm to your system (or your data).
If you have a Dual Boot system we recommend using the Manual Boot Process as opposed to the Windows Update Utility.
If you have more than one m4 in your system, note that the Windows Update Utility will update all eligible drives automatically. With the Manual Boot File you will be prompted on which drive(s) you want to update.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our Technical Support department. -

nice! a new update! recently I tend to get this issue in which the computer cant recognize my SSD and I have to leave it at bios screen for at least 5 minutes then restart in order for it to work again (sorry for the long run-on sentence)
-
Just updated both my mSATA and SATA drive (yes with their appropriate respective firmware updates). No issues. Took all of 5 minutes. Now to see if there's any improvements.
