I recently ordered a new Sager laptop and one of the SSD options the various resellers have is for a Crucial M5. I can't find any info on the net about an M5, is this the same thing as the Crucial M500?

Probably. The Crucial M4 sold for retail was the same as the Micron (same company) M400 sold to OEMs. However, both Crucial and Micron used the M500 numbering.

I would also add that the M500 has been superseded by the M550 which has a few performance tweaks.

It's probably just a typo on that Sager reseller's site, dropping the two 00s (Xoticpc). The M500 is being offered at LPC Digital, also a Sager reseller. I would expect the new M550 to be offered soon.
