Speeds when running crystaldiskmark seem lower than reviews would suggest. How is that possibru?

Easily. Did you do a SE or your SSD before running the bm?
Did you install an O/S on it or did you test it empty?
Have you used your SSD for longer than an hour? 'Scores' are not important nor relevant as you have found.

Yeah, I'm sure there is even more reasons, but I think the OP has a good idea now of why it's possible... -
I have a 128GB M600 now in my X220 for about 2 months now (bought for 70$ on ebay) and just snagged a 256GB M600 brand new on eBay for 86$. The 128GB performance is better than anything else in its class in my experience, and I am excited to try the 256GB version in my M18x.

No link per se, just be vigilant on ebay and watch the auctions. Typicially they go for around 140-160, but they can be had for less if you watch on eBay.
