Anandtech review: AnandTech | Crucial MX100 (256GB & 512GB) Review
I also got an email from TigerDirect this morning with some pretty good coupons for these new drives, so I'm trying to figure out if it's a good buy.
Any thoughts?

Looks like a good deal from TigerDirect if you don't have to pay sales tax. Otherwise, it's basically a wash with Amazon.

Newegg has the 256GB for $100 and 512GB for $200 with promo codes. For value alone these are very good drives. For performance the 512GB is the better choice of the two. Personally, I want to see TweakTown's review, especially "steady state" to get a better idea about "real world" performance.
-
frustrating that they're not including a 1TB drive. One would think that the large capacity drive would be the most desirable of a non-performance-oriented drive.
-
Damn, the 512 is sold out. I just decided to pull the trigger...

I totally get your guys' point, but I think most people looking for a budget SSD aren't trying to spend upwards of $400.

Need some help for anyone with this (or who has any clue what to do)
I plugged this into my laptop, however the socket in which the SSD sits is too deep for the size of the SSD itself. Therefore, the SSD is not sitting level; rather, it is tilted and I am afraid that any sudden movement of the laptop will result in the sata port snapping.
How can I level it? What should I put under the SSD? -

My problem is the depth of the bay. The spacer does not do much in leveling it; as it is so thin that the difference is marginal. -
Clear tape, fold it up, or some soft foam. Just stuck it in there till it is stable.

So, which of the following would you say is the better deal? I got the Seagate with an extra $30 mail-in rebate and coupon, so that brings the cost down to around $210.
$210

Looking at these early numbers of the MX100, if the usage is light, lots of recovery time, the MX100 is faster. Heavier usage favors the Seagate 600. Crucial is considered very reliable. Seagate is kind of new, with this SSD, and hasn't earned the same reliability yet.
