Yesterday I just received a pair of 1GB memory modules from Crucial that I ordered using their memory selector. I put them in to replace the two 256MB modules that came with my ZV6000 but I couldn't boot the laptop. The screen would not even show the HP logo so I couldn't even go to the BIOS settings to check the size of the memory. The screen remained dark and only fans and lights were on with no hard drive activity. If I used either one of the Crucial memory in either one slot, then it works. It even works if I mix the Crucial one with the original one. I called Crucial tech suport but they did not have a clue. He could only suggested me to run the memory test to make sure they are not defective. After running the test for a couple of hours the memory modules seemed to be fine.
Did anyone has silimilar experience? The Crucial memory is PC3200 but the Crucial tech believes that is not the problem.
My HP ZV6000 is configured as:
AMD Athlon64 3500+
ATI Radeon 200m w/ 128MB
60 GB 5400 RPM

I installed two 3200/400 sticks in mine as well with the same results. Either stick worked great on it's own, but together was a disaster. I spent quite awhile on HP tech support. There answer is there is no guarentee anything other than 2700/333 will work. Needless to say I'm returning one stck and will leave one mem slot empty.
