    Hello,

    I currently have a Lenovo X220 that I added a Crucial M4 256gb last year. The firmware is 0009.

This afternoon, i was working on my laptop and i decided to go eat, so I put it on sleep mode.

When I came back, press the power button...nothing..black!
So, I press the power button until it power off and restart it.
BUT, when the Lenovo picture (before bios) appears, it freezes there. I can't access the Bios and nothing happens.

I put back the old 5400rpm HDD in it and it works well.

So, I put the M4 in an external usb casing and plug it in the computer. Windows detected the Accessory and try to install driver, but failed..

    Damn...what's happening!!??

So, can you help me? What to do..?

    Thanks

Thanks, I did this and that changed nothing.. :(

When I start the laptop, the boot picture appears and freeze like that for about 3-5 minutes. After, a boot selector appears with the choice for the m4 or ATA device. When I choose m4, the screen go black for 5 minutes and the bios appears. After, they go to boot and say that no device detected..

Damn, I hope that there's a solution.. I have some informations that would be great to have..

I have had this happen more than once. Sometimes I have recovered, and sometimes not. There are two possible things I can suggest to try, which may or may not help you.

    1. Using a desktop PC, do not connect the SSD but boot to your primary drive. After the POST, connect the SSD while the operating system is booting. If that does not help, try repeating but don't plug in the SSD until you are fully booted into your operating system. Then, if the drive is recognized, make a clone or a backup or copy your important data (it may only work once or it may unglitch something more permanently).

    2. Leave the SSD unconnected to anything for 24 hours (completely disconnect any cables to the SSD). Plug all the cables back into the SSD, power up the computer, but enter the BIOS without booting your operating system. Check to see if your drive is detected in the BIOS. If not, leave it powered up for 1 hour. If it was detected, perform a warm-boot. If and when your system is fully booted, clone the drive or back it up or copy data to another device (same reason as end of step one).

If either 1 or 2 does give you some relief, it may indicate premature failure of the NAND or the SSD's internal controller. It may also simply unlock a frozen firmware. Run some diagnostics, check the SMART, and depending on what you find, send it back for replacement or continue using it but back-up frequently for a while.

    Good luck.

could it also be 5200hrs bug?

firmware 0309 solves that. I don't know, however, if data is retained after fw update

I was going to suggest JOSEA's post as well - where the drive gets into a weird power state, and resetting it causes it to come back. It sounds like you are definitely in that area.

Now, I don't think it will be the 5200 hour bug as in that case the computer would boot, and then Blue Screen after about an hour. But who knows.

    Two suggestions:

    a) Contact Crucial Tech Support for help. They should be better at helping you diagnose/fix the problem.

    b) Once you figure out what is up with the drive, update to [FW] 0309 asap.
