I've been using this for a few (NUC/desktop + UPS based) systems since v3.20 in July 2015. v324 is even better (much more stabile; actually no hiccups at all).
Works substantially different than RAPID does (i.e. it actually makes a difference in how a system responds) and purportedly extends drive life by the algorithm it uses.
This software, once validated for your workflow, makes the supported SSD's from Crucial that much more desirable than the Samsung (and other) TLC throwaway drives we've been force fed the last few years (yeah; nothing exciting or 'new' since the SanDisk Extreme Pro or the Crucial MX200 for any systems I've put together in the last ~18 months...).TomJGX likes this. -
I concur, this software is very good and Momentum Cache is a nice added bonus. No problems on any of my various Crucial/Micron drives

Edit, re-reading your post, I see you are referring to the momentum cache. Can you tell me more about how much of an improvement you feel it makes? -

Giving it a try now.
Things do feel a little snappier? Kind of hard to tell so far, I haven't put the machine through its paces too much since.
Wish I'd seen this right before I updated solidworks 2016 from sp 0.1-1.0, would have made for a decent test case.

Sorry, quite busy...
I am not using this on any of my production systems (because I don't use applicable drives on them...).
But I am using it on a couple of my 'office' systems (NUC's Haswell based i3's 16GB RAM w/M500 240GB SSD or MX200 500GB SSD) with no issues at all (accounting software, Adobe Acrobat professional, Office 2016 and a few other small programs, of course).
This was after I was at a client that asked me to see why his setup was randomly crashing (they were using Crucial Storage Executive v1.0) but surprisingly, without corrupting the O/S or program installs they were running. I immediately upgraded them to v3.20 and asked them to call me if the system crashed again. No, but they did have small glitches (needing to double click more than once, for example, to start a program - but that could have been caused by anything). A few months later, I upgraded them to v3.24 and they haven't had a single issue since (this is the version I started using...).
After having the system use Momentum Cache for a week or so, it was obvious which system had it enabled and which didn't. The system with MC enabled was snappier... n0t more powerful - just obviously more responsive.
Especially when doing a check for update and then installing those updates...
Why does MC work better than crapid? I believe it is because Crucial (like Intel) likes to deliver actual results to their customers. Whereas Samsung likes to simply show the highest synthetic/fake scores possible.
With regards to RAPID; after I saw the benefits (and no drawbacks) of using MC, I revisited the latest Samsung Magician (v4.9) and again tried RAPID to see if it too had evolved. Lol... disabled it in less than 4 hours (obvious latency issues on my i7 QC notebook w/16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (OP'd to 650GB usable capacity) - the exact opposite of what I experienced with MC. RAPID is still crapid...
BTW, all the systems have either a built in battery (notebook...) or are connected to a UPS 100% of the time that have this feature in use.
In many respects, it makes an entry level SSD 'feel' like a premium product (SanDisk Extreme Pro) even if it can't elevate that entry level SSD to 'heavy duty' workhorse class. That is the difference between 'snappiness' and real performance.
Hope this answers some of your questions...

Is anyone here using Storage Executive with an AMD based PC?
I'm currently using an AMD based PC with a Micron M510 128GB M.2 SATA SSD, Micron Storage Executive 3.24.082015.05 and the latest AMD SATA Controller driver
1.2.1.402 and the 2006 Microsoft Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller driver. If I use the 2006 Microsoft Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller driver, MSE will allow me to use all the supported functions like Momentum Cache, etc. If I use the latest AMD SATA driver, MSE will not allow me to use all the supported functions and will instead show a message "The drive currently busy performing an operation." And if I click Momentum Cache from within MSE, I get another message displayed stating, "No Drives Found Supporting Momentum Cache" even though it is except there appears to be a software bug with the AMD SATA driver or MSE itself. This never changes and remains in that state unless the AMD SATA driver is rolled back to the 2006 MS AHCI driver. Only then will all the functions return back to normal operation.
Has anyone encountered this issue?

Most likely. I would like to submit an incident or problem ticket to Micron/Crucial and AMD about this issue.
For those using Intel based PCs and using Micron/Crucial Storage Executive, have you noticed this issue with Intel SATA Controller drivers?

I have never seen this issue myself on a wide variety of Intel platforms (in total, I would guess at least close to 2o systems).
Micron/Crucial may be able to work around this; but ultimately, it is AMD's issue, imo. -

Edit: I have submitted an issue report about this problem with Storage Executive and the AMD SATA Controller driver to AMD via their website.
I can't agree with you for the fact that were just two insignificant individuals on an internet forum, not a majority. I won't say its solely an AMD issue only. And I can't say its a Micron/Crucial issue only either. Both parties need to know AMD based systems are affected by this issue. I'm just surprised it hasn't been addressed yet. All I can say is I can verify its a real issue and its affecting all of my current three AMD systems with AMD written software and its not acceptable, regardless of where the bug lies. I'll pursue the issue further with both parties and at least now there is a crumb trail starting with this thread. Thanks.

All I can contribute is having used Micron drives on Intel PM945, PM965, Intel 6 series, 7 series, and 8 series chipsets/controllers, I have never had an issue. More than likely an AMD controller issue.

Here's my SSD:
I've updated the StorageExecutive, enabled the Momentum Cache and I rebooted, now it is showing "Momentum Cache is currently inactive on this drive." What does it mean? Does it get active over time, or there's something else I should do?jaug1337, Spartan@HIDevolution and davidricardo86 like this. -
Just upgrade to V3.38.102016.07
@tilleroftheearth have you seen the Flexcap feature they added? Looks like you adjust the built-in OP by changing the drive total capacity. Here's a link - check p25 - it looks like the drive needs to have all partitions unmounted, and the operation erases the drive, so that seems kind of inconvenient and gimmicky.tilleroftheearth and TomJGX like this. -
Uh just instaleld the SSD-Z software looks nice.
Also going to see if the Crucial Storage Executive works for the M4... I hope so
