The crucial sells for £90, whereas the sandisk is only £85.

Which of these should I go for ?

Are there any other ssds of this capacity, in this price range, that I should take a look at?

    thanks

i would recommend M4.. if you could find Samsung 830 in that range of price. you could get samsung..

Marvell drives are better than sandforce in realibility

unfortunately cheapest for the 830 is £120 which is a third extra. If I were to get anything more expensive i'd probably go for the m3 pro or corsair performance pro. As it is, the price of the m4 is very decent, so I will only be looking for ssds within its price range.

M4. Sandforce reliability is still a big question mark. M4 is a proven drive.

I personally took the plunge with the SanDisk Extreme 120gb over the M4. I know I know I took a risk despite everyone having told me to get the Crucial M4, but I guess I'm just a rebel ;) I got this for $119 on newegg.com during a special offer.

I've had it for just over two months and have had no issues at all so far. It's running at SATA600 on my HP Elitebook 8460p (f.20 BIOS) which boots in under 20 seconds on Windows 7HP 64bit.

[Used SiSoft Sandra for these scores]
    Read Performance - 440.67MB/s
    Write Performance - *couldn't gauge because "drive isn't empty" error message, but I test-copied a 1.63GB .wmv file in 5 seconds = 334MB/s

So... just saying, it works perfectly for me. Windows boots super-fast and that's what I essentially wanted, and I don't have to hear an HDD spin up and down all the time :)

I see nothing wrong with going for it, but if you want to listen to what everyone says... ;) this is your choice! I personally love this drive and I'm glad I bought it from a reputable brand like SanDisk.

I didn't realize the M4, dropped so much in price. I remember when I bought it for £160, and I thought it was cheap!
