Ok. So this may be a stupid question, but what is the D drive on my computer? I have no idea what it does, but find my self concerned that it only have 6% of its free space left. Is this something to be concerned about? Please let me know.

What notebook do you have?

Could well be your recovery partition
-
D Drive is usually reserved for you to save your documents, pictures, videos, MP3's and any other personal files you may have.
If ur OS ever gets corrupted which is on C Drive you can do a reformat of C only and save D as is. -
I have the HP dv6000
-
Can you take a screenshot of it?

If it is the recovery partition, trying to open it will result in a pop-up telling you it is so and that you cannot access it as it is the recovery partition

well I'll say I did try to use the recovery software the other week and it wouldn't let me recover the d drive due to lack of memory. After clicking on it the d drive in my computer it say that it is part of the recovery partition. so I guess I won't worry about how much memory is on it.

Have a read of your manual
start > all programs > something along lines of 'back up' or 'security'
You can create backup DVDs of the partition. Personally I would then use Nero (or whatever) to copy the discs so you have 2 copies of the discs (laptop will only let you make one copy only!) (trust me!). After you have made the backup disc copies, you can delete the partition to recover the space if you so wish -
this forum never disappoints when it comes to answering my questions. thanks guys
