    DDR 3 Ram upgrade

    Does the Dell studio 1737 suports DDR3 ram 1066mhz or DDR2 1066mhz...it uses intel PM45 chipset.

    According to DELL 1737 documentation, it only supports DDR2 800MHz RAM (page 60 : Basic specifications > System memory).

    P.S : DDR3 is NOT backward compatible with DDR2.

    As stated above, the Dell 1737 only supports DDR2 800MHz, (not 667MHz or 1066MHz, as they are not foreward or backward compatible with the 800MHz) because the FSB are different depending on the MHz and the DDR type.

    There are any differences in performance betwen DDR3 and DDR2?

    Very little.

    The main difference is in battery life. ;)
