Im looking for memory for a compaq v4000t ( i order it on monday or tuesday) I want to upgrade to 2GB (the max) and i am pretty sure it runs DDR2 PC2 4200 533Mhz. I need to keep the total to 190 or under. I was looking at corsair and ocz and gigaram. Suggestions would be most welcome

Don't get Gigaram...alot of people are having problems with them. I have heard the OCZ and Corsair are good. You can also look at Transcend.

I've got 2x512MB Corsair Value Select PC4200 and have had no problems at all.
-
The transcend is cheap. does it work well? I am worried about it being too affordable

it all boils down to preference. I've used g.skill, ocz, kingston, corsair, and mushkin. never heard of treanscend, just spend 5-10 more for some brand name ram, it wont hurt

Hope you all can forgive me being a retard, but can I use the same memory in a Compaq V5000Z? If not, what would you recommend?
-
i dont think you can because turions dont support DDR2 RAM. sorry mate
-
Cheers.
So I need DDR not DDR2 eh?
WTF do all those other numbers mean? -
PC 4200 means what kind of speed and size it is. 533 is the speed.

Theres nothing wrong with transcend, they are owned by Samsung which l *think* is the leading supplier of memory chips in the world.
Either leader or 2nd..
