i'm about to order RAM through www.frys.com and it says that the 2Gb ram is pc2 5400 667 and the 1 Gb ram is pc2 5300 667. everything else seems to be the same. will they work well together? Thanks in advance.

I learned 5400 and 5300 are the same. Some manufacturers choose for 5400, some for 5300.

Yes they are the same thing as Dirzess said.
Basically multiply the clock speed(in this case 667) by 8.
667*8=5336
Some manufactures round up to 5400 or down to 5300 but they are the SAME exact thing(DDR2-667). Same thing applies to PC2 4200 and PC2 4300 -

PC 4200 and 4300 are both DDR2-533 right?
-
533*8=4264
Round(if you can count that as rounding) up you get 4300 and round down you get 4200 so they are both DDR2-533. -
Thanks for the replies. i ordered them already. i'm gonna end up with 3Gb RAM and my sister will have 1.5Gb RAM (i ordered 1x2GB and 2x1GB), but she doesn't need to know that. besides, i paid for it anyway.
1 more question... where does the multiplier "8" come from? -
8 is just a special number i made up in my head. 7 was too small and 9 was too big
Chaz explains it better then i will ever be able to do.
DDR2 pc2 5300 and pc2 5400
