I own an ideapad Y530 and it came to me with 2gb of DDR3 1066mhz...
on newegg.com they are selling 4gb of DDR3 1333 for $35 after rebate!
If i get the DDR3 1333mhz will it work in my laptop?
currently my ram is bottlenecked at 533mhz because of my processor's FSB of 677.
Thank you guys so much for all the help!

Your RAM is not bottlenecked. DDR means double data rate, so you're getting the full speed: 533MHz doubled is 1066MHz. What chipset does your laptop have? Odds are it doesn't even support 1366MHz DDR3.

Memory bandwidth will never be a bottleneck in systems since current CPUs can never utilize it. DDR3-1333 will work but it will downclock to be the same as if you had DDR3-1066.

Make sure it's SO-DIMM memory modules you're getting! Otherwise, you're buying desktop RAM that won't fit into your notebook.
DDR3-1333 will downclock to the fastest speed your notebook can handle, which is probably DDR3-1066.

Only the newer ones. DDR3 is very very new!

Hey, just making sure. I didn't know that DDR3-1333 SODIMMs existed, so I had the silly idea that you were going to get UDIMMs instead.
No need to go All-Caps on me. ;)

DDR3 isn't that new anymore but no notebook chipset supports DDR3-1333 SO-DIMMs yet as CPUs cannot fully utilize the bandwidth (except some desktop chipsets/CPUs).
