I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I received my Alienware 18 a couple of days ago and tried to install my Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz cl9 RAM in it. After installation, it would not boot so I would guess that the system can't handle 1.5v RAM - DDR3L is obviously 1.35v.
Now, my question... I cant seem to find any decent DDR3L RAM to upgrade! Is there anything on the market that would be a nice upgrade on the 1600mhz cl11 that comes with the AW?
I am in the UK if that helps.
Ideally I would want DDR3L 1600mhz cl9 but would settle for cl10. I would also prefer these to be in 8GB sticks.

I would suggest that there is a very negligible real world difference from what you have and what you want.
I would not be looking to upgrade - even if availability and the price was favorable.
Is there a specific reason to need these slightly higher spec's? -
Thanks for the reply. Well my issue is mainly because I only ordered this machine with 8GB thinking I could put my Corsair RAM in. I do lots of photo and video editing so idelly need 32GB.
My only other option is to get 4 sticks of 8gb direct from Dell. -

How much does Dell charge for those Sodimms?
Maybe this will work just as well (and possibly cheaper)?

Yeah thats not too bad actually. I'll give Dell a call for prices on theirs.
Cheers! -
Check in the Alienware M18x Subforum. They have a great group of knowledgeable people and would know the limits of the system.

You can get Kingston RAM that will run at 1866MHz at 32GB if I recall correctly. I know what you mean by photo editing.
Typhoon burner is a real nice tool as well that as all ready been mentioned. I used it to increase my clock speeds. -
I have 32gb of Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz cl9 in my m18 R1 and it works ok. Dont know why it would not work in the new m18.
