    Hey all,

So I recently got handed a DELL Precision M4700 which despite being 3/4 years old now is still an excellent machine - except for one thing... the screen.

This one has the cheaper 1366x768 panel, but I'm wondering if it's possible to just buy a Full HD version on eBay and swap them, or will I need to change cabling as well (and if so, what part numbers do I need)

Is this even possible and has anyone succesfully done it? Appreciate any advice!

    Thanks!

This may be late reply, but I think it may still be of some help.

If you machine shipped with 720p LCD then youre very likely need FHD 40pin LVDS cable before you stick 1080p LCD panel in your laptop. However, if youre determined you are going to upgrade to 1080p anyway, order LCD first, and if it does not power up from first time right, power it off and replace back with the old one, then order 40pin LVDS FHD cable for your m4700 and when it arrives, re-wire it and reinstall 1080p panel, and you will be sorted.

Late reply to your late reply :) (but I appreciate your response!)

You were right though... I did need the cable but I managed to get it and the panel from eBay for about €80 and it's been working fine ever since - though at this point it's become a secondary machine as I recently bought an M3800 which is about to be replaced as well with an M7510

    Cheers!
