Hello
I just received my Dell M6300 mobile pecision laptop.
I had specifically ordered the following Video Card ,
NVIDIA® Quadro FX 1600M 512MB TurboCache (256MB discret) for 3D applications.
however, the packing slip on the box specifies a generic Nvidia 256MB. G84 (WX233)
the sales person states that the packing slip may be an error.
How and where on the laptop would I check to see if the video card in my new laptop is the one that I ordered. ?
Do I have to go thru the motions of setting up windows xp professional to get into to the controll pannel to determine the specifications on the video card and make sure that the video card is the NVIDIA® Quadro FX 1600M 512MB
Please advise
thank you

The G84 is the correct one.
Nope, you just need to open up the Nvidia control panel and it should show the FX1600M.
If you look here, you will notice that the G84 includes the 8600M and 8700M series.
Since the FX1600M is the quadro version of the 8700M, it would appear as G84. Don't worry, the M6300 does not come with the 8600M or their workstation equivalents.
The 8800M series would be G92, which is how it should have appeared had you ordered your laptop with the FX3600M. -
You can download GPU-z to confirm. It will show both the names (FX1600M and G84).
