I'm considering building a DIY notebook, and I'm wondering what barebones notebook to purchase and build upon. I've been building desktop systems for a long time but I'm new to building a notebook. I've seen mention of CBB and Verified By Intel, which are supposed to allow interoperable parts. Does that allow better upgradeability in the future, or is the ability to upgrade the core components (such as the motherboard) still limited by which barebook you start with?

For people who have built your own notebook, do you feel that it was worth it, or would you have rather stuck with a prebuilt system? What barebook did you start with? I've looked at several Asus barebooks that I like, but I am open to suggestions. Also, what vendors do you recommend for purchasing components? Thanks.
