Simple question. Say you have 1066Mhz DDR3 Ram in a 2x dual channel config, Will a 4.8GT/s DMI increase the speed of data flow or is the 2.5GT/s DMI already fast enough to not allow the ram to saturate the bus completely. If the ram doesn't saturate 2.5 all the way then 4.8 is pointless.

Synthetically, you see a difference but I doubt there would be any real life performance boost - if that's what you're referring to. Which CPU are you referring to that users 2.5GT/s I/O Bus (DMI)?

    i5-450 2.4ghz 2.66ghz turbo 4.8gt/s dmi
    vs
    i5-520 2.4ghz 2.93ghz turbo 2.5gt/s dmi

what gives the higher performance boost +270mhz turbo boost or +2.3gt/s dmi?

also the i5-520 is 100 dollars more

how can i expect the load times to be effected with +2.3gt/s but 270mhz less turbo?

While I don't have hard numbers, $100 for an upgrade isn't worth it. The difference btw the two CPUs is marginal at best.

Simply put, you will not know anything for sure until some memory benchmarks are taken to compare the two.
