The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    EDIT: That's a nice little tool... thanks! I wonder what majority of people prefer Google DNS over OpenDNS or their ISP?

    Neither of the dns services mentioned above are "clean" in that they do not transparently deliver dns answers as contemplated by the internet community.

    also very old 'news'. Those servers are controlled and filtered by google in contravention to several RFCs.

    this is true... which DNS servers do you guys use? I've been using OpenDNS but I'm wanting to try something else.

    Using my ISP's DNS server, don't like the idea of Google logging everything :)

    i could have 33% faster speeds at using 8.8.8.8...

    i might test this on a friends system, he has horrible instable internet somehow. might be related to this?
