I am looking into buying a DV8000T with the specs as followed.

Intel Core Duo T2250 (1.73 GHz)
    1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
80 GB 5400 RPM Serial ATA
17.0" WXGA BrightView Wide Viewing (1440x900)
    Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600

Now, my question is, if I were to upgrade the processor in a few months to the Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.0), would my laptop recognize it?

    Any help is appreciated!

EDIT* I will be using this laptop for Counter-Strike:Source and photoshop. That is pretty much it!

Yes you will be able to upgrade later if you want. There is really no reason too, though. You will not see any appreciable performance increase. You would see better boosts by upgrading to a 7200 RPM hard disk or 2 gigabytes of memory.

Source is the most stressful to CPU than the GPU, but I will upgrade the harddrive so when I record it won't lag as bad! :p Thanks. I will let you know how it turns out when I get it.

I would say upgrade the hard drive. I had an E1505 with
    core duo 2.0GHz
    1GB 533MHz
    100GB Seagate 7200RPM
    X1400 128MB
    ---
I sold it and got the one in my sig.

I'm gonna upgrade the hard drive as soon as possible, it's slow. I can't browse the internet when I'm unzipping large files " i.e. 3GB " the hard drive light is ON like crazy, Everything becomes a slide show instead of smooth. I never had this problem with my old E1505, man I used to unzip 2 files, windows media player is on, P2P is on, and I can do whatever I want fast and smooth.

Yea, I am just afraid a 5400RPM won't be able to handle recording in CSS. -__0

I have a dv5000t and upgraded my hard drive to a 7200 RPM model and I can tell the difference. But, like you, I plan on upgrading to the 7200, :)
