I have a DVD reader/CD reader and writer combo drive in my laptop.
I wanted to burn something to a cd so I put in a black cd and went to My Computer but it says there's no disc in the drive.
I've opened cd's with this before why can't it now?
Thanks

is your drive rw? if not then you cannot reuse the disk. Also it could be that the drive is on its last legs. Also, what do you mean buy open a disk lol?

Yes it's an RW. It can read and write CD's.
I have read cd's with it before also.
I don't think it's on it's last legs because it can still read dvd's -
if you're sure that your optical drive is working and the CD or DVD you're trying is fine too (by testing it in another machine), then your optical drive and CD or DVD are incompatible.
I used a dell desktop for a while, and often I wasn't able to read DVDs burned on the Dell, while when I try them on a different machine they work fine. -
Hi, I have Dell XPS M140 whose cd drive is not working. I can only use the cd drive to watch dvd's, I can't use it to burn cd's or to install something. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations as to what can I do to have it repaired?
