    Hi All,

I just installed a new DVD burner ( Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P) into a Samsung R40 as the old was was faulty (And samsung did not support it as it "was never put into production" ... apprently. )
However, I am having trouble with this new slimtype , Vista is giving me the " Code 39" error ( driver missing or corrupt.)
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device and "update driver" however vista assures me "the best driver is already installed"
Cannot boot from the drive (not 100% on that though)
mechanically the drive is fine (opens and closes, light flashes) but it does not show in my computer.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Slymon

If the previous suggestion doesn't fix the problem, can you boot from the optical drive? This will confirm whether the BIOS and hardware are OK before Vista gets in the way.
