Have you thought about just getting an external drive?

ebay, you can find loads and loads for sale on there.

Just keep the bezel from your current drive, and possibly the custom mount (if it has one, some don't)

If you can't find notebook optical drives online, you're looking in the wrong places.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&N=2010100005+1036508673&name=Slim+DVD+Burner
(this link is for ALL slim DVD burners they carry)

    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10007202
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=175305 (slot loading, for additional cool factor)

I have not been impressed with Phillip's optical drives; I have had a higher failure rate with them than with other manufacturers. For a notebook drive, I'd probably go Pioneer first, who has a reputation for excellent disc compatibility and decent write quality.

With that in mind, check on this one:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827129012

Take Newegg's user ratings with a grain of salt. People who expect max rated burning speed out of a notebook DVD-burner are likely to be disappointed (no matter the manufacturer), especially on dual-layer discs. Samsung is becoming a rising star in optical drives too, but I haven't owned one yet, so I can only comment on what I have experienced.
